Riyadh: Saudi Arabia has begun distributing five lakh riyals in aid to the heirs of health workers, including foreigners who died of covid. Funding is now in line with a decision taken by the Saudi cabinet last December.

The heirs of health workers, including doctors and nurses who worked in government hospitals and private hospitals across the country who died of the disease while caring for Kovid victims, will receive financial assistance of five lakh riyals.

More than a thousand Indians died in Saudi Arabia during this period. A good portion of them are Malayalees. Health workers were among the dead. Their families are also likely to receive financial assistance. It will be clear in the coming days what the criteria are and who will receive the funding.
