Saudi Arabia to Establish Professional Baseball Teams in Riyadh, Jeddah, and Dammam

Saudi Arabia, which has emerged as a major player in the global sports industry thanks to oil money, is also establishing a professional baseball team.

According to Reuters on the 5th (local time), the Saudi Baseball and Soccer Federation (SBSF) agreed to create three professional baseball teams in Saudi Arabia in cooperation with Baseball United, a professional baseball league in the Middle East and South Asia.

Baseball United plans to establish professional baseball teams in each of Saudi Arabia’s three largest cities, Riyadh, Jeddah, and Dammam, and host league games in Saudi Arabia. Baseball United plans to establish a subsidiary in Saudi Arabia and nurture the baseball industry by providing training programs for amateur and professional players, coaches and umpires.

“It allows us to work on the ground to help grow baseball in the largest country in the Middle East,” said Cathy Shayk, CEO of Baseball United.

Baseball United opened in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE) in July last year. So far, four teams have been created: Mumbai Cobras (India), Karachi Monarchs (Pakistan), Dubai Wolves, and Abu Dhabi Falcons (UAE), and four more teams will be created for a total of eight teams , who will play in the league in November.plans to start.
