Denmark Rail Travel: Summer Deals Still Available Despite Pass Cancellation
While Denmark’s rail operator, DSB, has discontinued its popular summer travel pass, opportunities for discounted train travel this summer remain. Travelers seeking budget-friendly options can still find attractive deals.
The rejsepas, introduced in 2020, offered unlimited access to public transportation in Denmark for eight consecutive days at a cost of 399 kroner for adults.However,the pass is no longer available in 2025.
Instead, DSB offers Orange tickets, which provide reduced-price travel for specific departure times on a first-come, first-served basis. A million of these summer Orange tickets have been released for travel between June 20 adn August 3. These tickets offer meaningful discounts between any two stations in Denmark, with a maximum price of 99 kroner.
Such as, a trip from Aalborg to Copenhagen, normally costing 522 kroner and taking about five hours, is available for 99 kroner on select departures on June 26.
These tickets are non-refundable and cannot be changed.However, up to two children under 12 can travel for free with a ticket holder. Children aged 12-15 travel at half price.
Travelers also can find reduced rail fares for trips to Sweden via Skånetrafiken, a Swedish travel operator.Skånetrafiken offers a tourist ticket providing unlimited travel within the Skåne region and the Danish side of the Øresund.
The Skånetrafiken saver ticket, valid for 48 hours, is available to both tourists and residents.A ticket for travel within Skånetrafiken’s network in Sweden costs 299 Swedish kronor (200 Danish kroner). A ticket covering both Skåne and Copenhagen costs 599 kronor (415 kroner) and extends to destinations such as Helsingør and Gilleleje.
The Skånetrafiken travel pass is available on the Skånetrafiken app and will remain available after the summer season.
