Images related to people mourning the victims of the Zhuhai collision were censored
On the evening of November 11, a man drove his car into a crowd in Zhuhai, Guangdong, China, killing 35 people and seriously injuring 43 others. On the night of the incident, multiple videos and pictures circulated on China’s major social media platforms, showing dozens of people being knocked to the ground and a car fleeing the scene, but the relevant pictures and videos were quickly deleted. Online comments expressing dissatisfaction with the official delay in reporting the incident were also deleted, as were hashtags mentioning the death toll on Weibo. On the evening of November 12, nearly 24 hours after the incident, the Chinese authorities officially disclosed the incident. Multiple official media reports were titled “Zhuhai Police Reported a Major and Vicious Case.” Police said the 62-year-old driver had been arrested and was sent to hospital for treatment for injuries. He allegedly cut his neck and other parts of his body with a knife. Police added that the man was unhappy with the division of property in the divorce settlement. On the evening of November 12, some people placed candles and flowers at the scene of the incident. About 30 people gathered near a gate of the Zhuhai Sports Center, and some deliverymen also stopped and dropped off about 20 bouquets of flowers. At the time of the incident, Zhuhai was hosting China’s largest air show. The new stealth jet fighter exhibited for the first time at the air show attracted global attention. There is currently no indication that the collision was related to the air show.
But this is the second time a similar incident has occurred during the Zhuhai Air Show. During the 2008 air show, a man drove a truck into the campus, killing at least 4 people and injuring 20 others.
Trump continues to build team, Musk appointed
Donald Trump appoints Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk and US entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy after winning US election Co-leads the Department of Government Efficiency. “Together, these two outstanding Americans will pave the way for my administration to dismantle government bureaucracy, cut redundant regulations, reduce wasteful spending, and reorganize federal agencies,” Trump wrote in a statement. The ‘Save America’ movement is vital.” Trump is assembling his team to prepare for his return to the White House in January. Trump said other appointments he would make include hardline immigration official Tom Homan to serve as the country’s “border czar” and his campaign manager, known as the “ice maiden” )” Susie Wiles will serve as White House chief of staff; Mike Waltz will serve as national security adviser.
In addition, Trump will nominate former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee as U.S. ambassador to Israel and New York Congresswoman Elise Stefanik as ambassador to the United Nations. Trump has appointed South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem as secretary of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
Former Trump adviser’s post seems to imply that Kevin Rudd’s term is about to end
Dan Scavino, who served in Donald Trump’s previous administration, retweeted a social media post from Kevin Rudd congratulating Trump on his victory Tuesday night, adding: An hourglass gif. The animated graphic shows sand trickling down through an hourglass, a move that is suspected to be a hint that Rudd’s term is coming to an end. Former Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd, who was appointed Australia’s ambassador to the United States in March 2023, has repeatedly made comments disparaging Trump, calling him a “madman”, “the most destructive president in history” and a “traitor to the West” “. Trump also described Kevin Rudd as “a bit annoying” and “not very smart” in an interview in March this year. Last week, after Trump was elected, Kevin Rudd deleted several of his posts on social platform X that criticized Trump. Although the two don’t appear to be at odds, neither Trump nor anyone else in his cabinet can decide whether Rudd will serve as Australia’s ambassador to the United States. Normally, the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) would solicit expressions of interest for the position, with the secretary then making a recommendation to the Minister for Foreign Affairs for final appointment by the government.
Earlier this year, Foreign Affairs Minister Penny Wong backed Rudd amid criticism from Trump, saying he was doing a “fantastic job” and confirming he would stay in office no matter who was elected president.
