Scenarios for Al-Ahly’s qualification in the African Champions League after the point of Chabab Belouizdad of Algeria

Al-Ahly tied 0-0 with CS Belouizdad yesterday in the postponed match of the fourth round of the African Champions League, preserving its chances of qualifying for the next round of the tournament. The Red Giant is preparing to face Ghana’s Medeama, scheduled for six o’clock next Friday evening in Ghana in the fifth round of the African Champions League. Al-Ahly, which won the last edition of the African Champions League at the expense of Moroccan Wydad, hopes to achieve the twelfth title in the current edition.

Al-Ahly tops the list of clubs with the most wins in the African Champions League, with 11 titles, while Zamalek comes in second place with 5 titles, equally with Congolese Mazembe.

Al-Ahly has two matches remaining in the group stage, the first against Ghana’s Medeama outside its stadium, and the second in Cairo against Tanzania’s Young Africans.

Al-Ahly’s victory over Medeama and Young Africans naturally ensures that it qualifies from its group in the African Champions League at the top, regardless of the rest of the results.

It is enough for the Red Giant to win only one match in order to officially qualify for the continental quarter-finals, raising his score at that time to point 9 and ensuring passage.

As for the draw in the two matches against Medeama and Young Africans, Al-Ahly is sufficient to qualify for the quarter-finals of the African Champions League, as its score at that time rises to 8 points, but on the condition that the Algerian team does not lose to the champions of Tanzania and Ghana.

For the first time, Al-Ahly tied in 3 consecutive matches in the African Champions League since the 2012-2013 season, when it tied in 4 consecutive matches.

For the third season in a row, Al-Ahly is satisfied with one victory in its first 3 rounds in the group stage of the African Champions League.

Al-Ahly raised its score to 6 points at the top of the group standings, followed by Tanzania’s Young Africans and CS Belouizdad with 5 points, and Medeama is at the bottom of the standings with 4 points.

The Professional Clubs Association announced the postponement of the Al-Ahly and Talaea El-Geish match in the thirteenth round, which was scheduled for next Monday, February 19, at the Military College Stadium, to a date to be determined later, due to Al-Ahly’s African connections.
