In 2024, Ukraine plans to change the system of financing higher education. In particular, this applies to scholarships for students. They plan to increase them and provide them to a select few. Deputy Head of the Ministry of Education and Science Mikhail Vinnitsky, in an interview with NV, told who will continue to be entitled to a scholarship and whether its size will increase.
Who will receive the scholarship in 2024
He noted that the current scholarship in the amount of 1,700 hryvnia, and from 2024 – 2,000 hryvnia, is populism. This is because the student does not live on this money. These funds are rather a pleasant bonus for him.

Vinnitsky explained that being a bonus is not the function of the scholarship. In addition, the hostel fee is tied to it, so the hostels look terrifying.
“We will change this system. Now scholarships will remain with those whom the state orders and covers 100% of their education, who agrees to the first guaranteed job and needs this scholarship. In addition, it will be increased to normal amounts on which you can survive,” he concluded.

Earlier it was reported that the Cabinet of Ministers appointed 119 lifetime government scholarships for outstanding services in the field of higher education. The list, among other things, includes the father of President Vladimir Zelensky, Alexander Zelensky.
