Emily Nutley,43,a former school counselor in Cincinnati,Ohio,was sentenced Tuesday to three years in prison after admitting⁣ to sexual relations with a 17-year-old student. Nutley pleaded for probation but was sentenced to prison ‍for abusing the vulnerable teenager in‍ her office ‌at the school ‍where she worked.

During the sentencing at Hamilton County Court, Nutley expressed remorse. “I ‌crossed a line that should never have ⁢been crossed,” Nutley said,acknowledging the ​impact of her actions on her family and career. She stated ​she⁤ had lost her husband, home and friends.

The abuse, which occurred during the 2023 autumn term, involved multiple instances in nutley’s office. The student claimed Nutley threatened suicide if‌ he ended the relationship. She also reportedly exchanged nude photos with him, provided a monthly allowance, and gave him answers‌ to ‌a test.

Prosecutors sought a five-year prison‍ term, stating⁣ that Nutley “preyed on the most defenceless person she could find.” The victim requested a 10-year sentence, saying the ⁣abuse ​had significantly altered⁢ his life.⁢ He added that he didn’t‍ realize he was being taken advantage ‍of when the abuse began.
