The Ikebukuro Halloween Cosplay Festival Executive Committee, in which Dwango Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Chuo-ku, Tokyo, President and CEO: Tsuyoshi Natsuno), Animate Co., Ltd., and Hacosta Co., Ltd. participate, is celebrating its 11th year as a large-scale Halloween event for cosplayers. The event “Ikebukuro Halloween Cosplay Festival 2024 Powered by dwango” was held for three days from October 25th (Friday) to October 27th (Sunday), 2024, and 161,000 people visited the event.

paradeOn the first day of the event, the 25th (Friday), “Ike Hallo Night” was held from dusk to night in Sunshine City, where cosplayers and photographers enjoyed photo sessions and social gatherings that took advantage of the night view. Many visitors learned about the lively venue through social media and other sources and decided to attend on the day.
The event will start at 10 a.m. on the 26th (Saturday) and 27th (Sunday), and will take place in the wide area of Ikebukuro’s east exit area, with photo opportunities at Nakaikebukuro Park, Sunshine City, Ike Sun Park, and Higashiikebukuro Central Park. cosplayers gathered from all over Japan. At the “Ike Halo Special Ceremony” held on Saturday the 26th, Toshima Ward Mayor Miyuki Takagiwa, Dwango Director CCO Daisuke Yokozawa, Animate Holdings Managing Director Yasuhiro Niwa, and Sunshine City President and Representative Director Hidemi Waki were popular. Appeared in character cosplay. Mayor Takagiwa said in his greeting, “Ike Haro is a safe and secure event.Toshima Ward is proud to have grown it together with the visitors.” Afterwards, the highlight of the event was a parade of about 400 cosplayers, who marched along the route from Sunshine 60 Street to Hareza Ikebukuro. The many galleries gathered on both sides of the event erupted in cheers as the spectacular sight of the city of Ikebukuro was brightly colored.
At the main stage of Naka Ikebukuro Park, programs that can be enjoyed by a wide range of people are held, including “Nico Nico Cosplay” where participants perform their cosplay, “Parent and Child Halloween”, and karaoke, and children can also be seen enjoying themselves as they discover their favorite characters. I saw a lot of them. Furthermore, there are many participants from overseas, making the event even more appealing as an international event.
In addition, as a new project in cooperation with the local community, a bright red electric bus “IKEBUS” that tours the Ikebukuro area will be operated exclusively for Ikeharo, and participants with premium tickets will be able to board the bus. I enjoyed a special time with my cosplay friends.
The Ikebukuro Halloween Cosplay Festival will continue to allow as many people as possible to enjoy cosplay, a subculture that represents Japan, in a safe and secure manner, while working to further revitalize the region.
