According to the police on the 12th, the 2nd anti-corruption investigation unit of the Gyeongbuk Police Agency confiscated and searched the cell phone and vehicle of party official A at Rep. Kim’s office in Nambu-dong, Andong-si, Gyeongsangbuk-do the morning before. This search and seizure was in response to a complaint from the Andong City Election Commission.

Previously, on the 18th of last month, the Andong Election Commission reported 11 people involved to the Gyeongbuk Police Agency on charges of violating the Public Official Election Act, including the establishment of a similar election office other than Rep. Kim’s election office during the People Power Party primary in connection with the 22nd National Assembly election.

Article 89, Paragraph 1 of the Public Official Election Act states, ‘Anyone other than the election office, election liaison office, and election preparation organization pursuant to Article 61, Paragraph 1 and Paragraph 2, may hold an election promotion committee, support association, research institute, or organization for any candidate or person seeking to become a candidate. It is stipulated that, regardless of the name of a counseling center, rest area, or other similar institution, group, organization, or facility, a new institution, group, organization, or facility may not be established or an existing institution, group, organization, or facility may be used.

Representative Kim succeeded in being re-elected in this general election.
