Securing Son Heung-min’s Legacy: The Path to Tottenham Legend Status

In order to leave Son Heung-min (32, Tottenham) as a Tottenham legend, the best treatment must be guaranteed.

Tottenham defeated Luton Town 2-1 in the 30th round of the 2023-2024 Premier League (PL) season held at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, England at midnight on the 31st (Korea time). 5th place Tottenham (56 points) still chasing 4th place Aston Villa (59 points).

As expected, the answer is Son Heung-min. At 41 minutes of the second half, Son Heung-min drove the ball up quickly in a counterattack opportunity. Son Heung-min passed a pass into left space. Timo Werner sent a ground ball cross into the box. Brennan Johnson extended his foot and put it back. Son Heung-min shot immediately. The ball went between Hashioka’s legs leading to a goal.

Son Heung-min, who returned from the national team’s two-game World Cup qualifier, saved the team again. Son Heung-min, who was playing as a starter, showed his presence by scoring the winning goal on 41 minutes of the second half when the two teams were scored 1-1.

Son Heung-min has already become a Tottenham legend. Son Heung-min, who scored his 15th league goal, reached 160 goals in his Tottenham career, surpassing Cliff Jones (159 goals) and rising to 5th place with the club’s highest score.

The problem is that Son Heung-min’s contract with Tottenham expires in 2025. Tottenham, who lost Harry Kane, want to tie Son Heung-min to a long-term contract early. Son Heung-min is also positive about renewing his contract.

Reporter Fabrizio Romano, an expert on the European transfer market, said, “Son Heung-min’s team is moving in the right direction through a good connection between the manager and the club. The relationship between his agent and the club is also is excellent, so renewing his contract will not be a problem.” I had a great view.

If Tottenham want to keep Son Heung-min, they must show a minimum of sincerity. The point of reference is Mohamed Salah. Currently, Son Heung-min’s weekly salary is half of Salah’s. Salah is reported to receive a weekly salary of 350,000 pounds (about 600 million won). Tottenham must give Son Heung-min a contract at least as good as Salah’s.

Son Heung-min and Salah have something in common: they are the same age and are top strikers who play as foreign players in England. Son Heung-min scored 23 goals and became joint top scorer with Salah in the 2021-22 season. When discussing the best strikers in the Premier League, the names of these two players are not left out.

This season, Son Heung-min scored Premier League scorer leader Erling Holland (Man City, 18 goals) by three goals. A competition for top scorer is also possible. Son Heung-min’s prime will easily last another 2-3 years.

Tottenham manager Angie Postekoglou said: “Sonny has been a great player for the club for a long time and will continue to be so in the future. Soy is everything to Tottenham. He is extremely dedicated to the club and has high standards. He is positive about Son Heung-min’s contract renewal, saying, “I will do my best at every moment on the pitch.”
