Second Seed Katerina Siniakova Leads the Charge
In the first round of the women’s singles at the WTA Tour official Thailand Open 2, second seed Katerina Siniakova (Czech Republic) secured a spot in the second round by defeating Alina Radionova (Australia) 7-5, 6-1. Siniakova broke serve for the second time at 6-5 to take the first set, then lost serve at 2-0 in the second, but won the next four games to close the match in an hour and 35 minutes.
Siniakova will next face the winner of the match between Argentina’s Nadia Podoroska and Russia’s Senia Raskutova, who qualified from Russia. Other seeded players who advanced to the second round include fifth seed Wang Siyu of China, sixth seed Katie Volinec of the United States, and eighth seeds Barbara Graczewa of France and Laura Siegemund of Germany.
