Sega Launches Virtua Fighter 5 REVO on Steam: New Features and 4K Visuals
Sega is releasing Virtua Fighter 5 REVO on Steam this winter. This version marks the first time the series will be available on the platform. Virtua Fighter 5 REVO is an update of the 2006 game, bringing new features for fans.
The game will include rollback netcode for smoother online play, as well as 4K visuals and high-resolution textures. Additionally, there are game balance updates for the roster of 19 characters.
Sega partnered with Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio, known for the Like A Dragon and Judgment series, to develop this version. Virtua Fighter 5 REVO offers multiple gameplay modes, including ranked matches, arcade, training, and versus. Online competitions will support 16-player tournaments and leagues.
The original Virtua Fighter 5 launched in arcades in 2006. It was later ported to PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Subsequent versions included Virtua Fighter 5 R in 2008, which added character Jean Kujo, and Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown in 2010.
In a recent interview, Sega’s Justin Scarpone hinted at developing another Virtua Fighter game, sparking hopes for a new installment. Fans of the series will have to wait longer for Virtua Fighter 6 while enjoying the updates of Virtua Fighter 5 REVO.
