Seksan Reveals Department’s Efforts to Facilitate Export Applications and Develop Container Inspection Application for New Markets in Saudi Arabia

Director of the Plant and Agricultural Materials Management Office of the Department of Agriculture, Mr. Seksan Wannagree, recently spoke at a forum focused on the export of Thai fruits to the global market. The Department’s clear policy is to export one hundred billion fruits and vegetables of the highest quality. To facilitate this, the Department has implemented the e-Phyto system, allowing farmers to submit export applications from anywhere without the need to visit a physical checkpoint.

Additionally, the Department has recognized the need to increase the number of official inspectors. Previously, 30 inspectors were responsible for inspecting 600 containers, but this year, an additional 60 inspectors have been added to handle 800 containers. Although this is a short-term solution, amendments to regulations will soon allow civil servants to become officers under the Plant Quarantine Act. This will ensure that the Department is adequately staffed to handle the anticipated increase in cabinet inspections, projected to reach 1200 to 2000 by 2024.

To streamline the inspection process, the Department is developing a mobile application similar to ride-hailing services like Grab or Uber. Inspectors will act as “drivers” and can be summoned by operators, such as Lhong, once the cabinet is closed. This real-time app will facilitate efficient inspection procedures.

Furthermore, Mr. Seksan highlighted the potential of the Saudi Arabian market, which has shown high demand for quality fruit and vegetables. Unlike other trading partners, Saudi Arabia has fewer regulatory requirements due to its desert landscape, meaning insect pests are less of a concern. The country is also investing heavily in infrastructure and is set to host the World Cup in the future. This development is expected to attract more people and generate a greater demand for various products.

In conclusion, the Department of Agriculture is actively working to enhance its export capabilities and ensure the highest quality standards. With the implementation of the e-Phyto system, increased staffing, and the introduction of the mobile application for inspection, the Department is well-equipped to facilitate the ambitious goal of exporting one hundred billion Thai fruits and vegetables to the global market.

“Seksan” reveals that the Department continues to facilitate farmers to submit export applications through the e-Phyto system, increasing the number of workers. Develop application for container inspection Ready to introduce new markets in Saudi Arabia

In addition, the department is about to increase the number of official personnel. which in the past year has 30 inspectors inspecting 600 containers, but this year has added 60 inspectors to inspect 800 containers, which is considered a short-term fix. But in the long run, now the regulations have been amended. for civil servants to beOfficers under the Plant Quarantine Actcan

“In the past, officers worked in accordance with the Act. Plant Quarantine Act 1964, where the workers will only be civil servants, but the Director General’s policy seeks to amend the rules for civil servants to be officers in accordance with the Plant Quarantine Act. So in the future there will be 1200 or 2000 cabinets, the staff have already prepared. It is expected that the process steps will be completed by the end of the year or by the export year 2024″

At the same time, the department has preparedapplication development with a form similar to Grab or Uber, where the inspector will act as Grab or Uber to go to the operator, for example, Lhong, after closing the cabinet, can immediately call the inspector that the app will operate in real time When the operator calls immediately, there will be an officer to inspect.

Mr added Another interesting thing at the moment is the rural market.Saudi Arabia with the demand for quality fruit and vegetables These countries have fewer regulatory requirements than other trading partners. because it is a desert country Don’t worry about insect pests. I just want a quality product.
