Selena Gomez recently shared a heartfelt confession with her fans on social media, revealing that she cannot have children of her own due to medical issues. However, she expressed her desire to become a mother in the future.
The former Disney Channel star has been open about her health struggles, including her diagnosis with lupus in 2013 and her kidney transplant in 2017. In a recent interview, she revealed that her medical issues would put her life and the life of her baby at risk if she were to get pregnant.

“I’ve never said this before, but unfortunately, I don’t have children of my own,” Selena told Vanity Fair. “Which could endanger my life and the life of the child. I had to mourn this for some time.”
Despite this challenge, Selena remains positive and grateful for other options. “I consider it a blessing that there are great people willing to adopt, which are important prospects to me,” she said.

“I have never said this but unfortunately I cannot bear my own children. I have many medical problems that would endanger my life and the life of the baby. It was something I had to mourn for a while.”
Selena also shared that she had planned to become a single mother at age 35 before meeting her current partner, Benny Blanco. “Before I met my boyfriend, I was single for five years without going on a few dates,” she explained. “I was thinking, ‘Okay, if this is the feeling, what’s the most important thing to me?’ Family.”
Although Selena’s journey to motherhood may look different, she remains excited and grateful for the opportunity to become a mother in the future. “It makes me really grateful for other outlets who dream of being a mom. I’m one of those people. I’m excited about what that journey will look like, but it’s going to look a little different. At the end of the day, it’s going to be my child.”
