Sembrando Vida and Jóvenes Construyendo programs extend to El Salvador and Honduras

The Government of Mexico, through the Foreign Ministry, maintains the registration process for the Sowing Life and Young People Building the Future programs in Guatemala, Belize and Cuba with the delivery of agricultural packages, supplies and training.

In Guatemala, Sembrando Vida will benefit 14,000 producers in 13 departments of the country.

Meanwhile, in Belize, 2,000 producers from the six districts of the country will benefit, and during this month of September the delivery of the agricultural package, inputs and training will begin.

In Cuba there are 5,000 peasants from the provinces of Artemisa and Mayabeque, and the delivery of tools, machinery and training is about to begin.

According to the balance collected from the 5th Government Report, the strategy to support communities in Central American and Caribbean countries via these two emblematic programs of the Lopez Obrador administration has allowed it to be implemented in El Salvador and Honduras in 20 departments, benefiting 20 thousand producers.

“This project contributed to the social well-being of growers, through the implementation of plots, agroforestry production systems to achieve food self-sufficiency, generate employment, increase income, reactivate the local economy and regenerate the social fabric.”

Young People Building the Future had a presence in the 14 departments of El Salvador and was present in 16 of the 18 departments of Honduras. Job training opportunities were provided to 20,000 young people between the ages of 18 and 29 who had been excluded from the formal labor market due to conditions of poverty, stigmatization, or lack of access to education.

In the balance it is highlighted that the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and AMEXCID prepared a diagnosis of Sowing Life and Young People Building the Future in El Salvador and Honduras, where the following results were found:

Regarding Sembrando Vida, the diversification of crops, the increase in productivity, economic independence, family well-being, community integration and job creation stand out. While Jóvenes Construyendo el Futuro contributed to the economic independence, the increase in income, as well as the modification of the employment situation and the generation of work experience of the beneficiaries.
