(Seoul = Yonhap News) Reporter Choi Song-ah = Im Seong-jae (23) slightly improved his ranking by keeping his at-bats on the second day of the Tour Championship, the final game of the FedEx Cup playoffs on the PGA Tour.

In the second round of the tournament held at East Lake Golf Club (par 70, 7,346 yards) in Atlanta, Georgia, USA on the 4th (Korean time), Im Seong-jae recorded four birdies and four bogies and hit an even-par 70.

Seongjae Lim, who started the tournament with a 3-under par in bonus strokes, lost one stroke in the first round and placed a tie for 23rd with a 2-under par, and after the second round, maintained a mid-total 2-under par and rose three steps to a tie for 20th.

The Tour Championship is a ‘war of kings’ tournament in which only the 30 players with the best performances on the PGA Tour this season remain to determine the winner.

The prize money for the championship is 15 million dollars (about 17.4 billion won), and the 30th place, which is the bottom, is given 395,000 dollars, which is about 450 million won.

Seongjae Lim finished 12th in the FedEx Cup rankings until the second round of the playoffs, the BMW Championship, and is the only Korean player to advance to the final game this season. This is the 3rd consecutive year since 2019.

Im Seong-jae, who placed 19th in 2019 and 11th last year, is aiming for his first ‘Top 10’. Patrick Cantlay (USA), who took the lead with a 17-under par until the second round, and Jon Lam (Spain), who finished second by one stroke, were quite wide apart from the top players, and they were 6 strokes behind the tied 10th place (8-under).

Im Seong-jae was not bad in the first half following the previous day.

Starting with a birdie putt of about 3m on the 5th hole (par 4), he drew birdies for 3 consecutive holes, and reduced two strokes in the first half by writing a bogey on the 8th hole (par 4).

But in the second half, he forgot the batting. He made up for the 12th hole (par 4) bogey with a birdie, the 13th hole (par 4) chip, but only scored two bogeys afterwards.

Cantlay, who won the BMW Championship and entered the tournament with three wins in the season and No.

Cantlay, who started with a bonus of 10 under par, reduced three strokes in the first round, and reduced four more strokes without bogey.

World No. 1 Ram, who started in 4th place in the FedEx Cup and climbed to 2nd place by reducing 5 strokes the previous day, also reduced 5 strokes on the same day and pursued Cantlay by one stroke, laying the groundwork for the challenge to win the championship.

Bryson Dishambo was third at 11-under, followed by Justin Thomas (USA) at 10-under 4th.

Tony Finau, who started with an 8-under par as 2nd place in the FedEx Cup rankings, lost two strokes in the first round and was pushed to 8th place.

Rory McIlroy (Northern Ireland) and Jordan Spieth tied for 10th (8-under), Dustin Johnson finished 15th (6-under), and Brooks Kepka (USA) finished 18th (4-under).
