September 1st is Disaster Prevention Day. Eat and prepare! We recommend adding honey to your disaster prevention kit. A long-established honey specialty store publishes disaster prevention food recipes using honey | NEWSCAST
“Honey Column” by Mealmy, a honey specialty store operated by Kaneichi Shoten Co., Ltd. (Head office: 21 Nakano-cho, Tominokoji-nishiiru, Sanjo-dori, Nakagyo-ku, Kyoto City) To coincide with Disaster Prevention Day on September 1st, we have published disaster prevention food recipes that use honey.
Following the occurrence of an earthquake in Miyazaki Prefecture on August 8, 2024, and the first announcement of the “Nankai Trough Earthquake Emergency Information” by the Japan Meteorological Agency, many people are reconsidering their disaster prevention preparations. Also, have you ever had the experience of consuming or even throwing away emergency food in a hurry, even though you prepared a disaster prevention kit, because the expiration date of the emergency food has passed? To prevent such a situation, the “rolling stock method” of “preparing while consuming on a daily basis” is attracting attention. One of the best foods for such a rolling stock is “honey”. Honey has a long expiration date and can be stored at room temperature whether before or after opening, so it is an excellent preserved food. It can be used widely as a seasoning, whether it is on toast or yogurt every morning, or eaten as it is. If it is an ingredient that you are familiar with on a daily basis, you can eat it without feeling strange even in an emergency, and the taste that you are accustomed to on a daily basis will lead to a sense of security. The gentle sweetness can also be a healing agent for the anxious life of evacuees. Honey is easy to incorporate into your daily life and can be used in emergencies, so why not try incorporating it into your disaster prevention measures?
〇 7 reasons why we recommend honey
①Honey has a long shelf life, up to two years from the date of manufacture.
② Store at room temperature before and after opening (no need to refrigerate)
3. Can be used as a seasoning
④ Just lick it as is for a quick dessert
⑤It contains minerals and vitamins such as potassium, which helps with nutritional intake.
6. Helps with carbohydrate and hydration intake during the summer when appetite tends to decrease
7. Moisturizing effect during dry seasons

〇 Rolling Stock Points
* Buy extra food items that you normally eat and stockpile them.
* Consume in daily meals
* Buy more and replenish what you have consumed.
