Day of Mourning Declared in Serbia and Republika Srpska
The Government of Serbia has declared 2 November as the Day of Mourning in accordance with the Law on Observing the Day of Mourning in the Republic of Serbia.
This law stipulates that a day of mourning is declared in the event of a particularly serious accident resulting in the loss of life, injury, or severe damage to the health of a large number of people.
Milorad Dodik, President of Republika Srpska, announced that a day of mourning will be observed in Srpska due to the tragic accident in Novi Sad. He extended his condolences to Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić and the families of the victims.
“We mourn the loss of the victims and sympathize with the pain of their families. Tomorrow will be declared a day of mourning in Republika Srpska,” President Dodik stated on social media.
A devastating accident occurred at the Railway Station in Novi Sad, resulting in the loss of at least eight lives. The incident took place around 12 o’clock, with multiple people reported injured.
