‘Setter’ one player spread his wings, Korean Air flew

Woori Card 3-0 Completely Defeated… 6th place → 2nd place in the first win streak
GS Caltex beat Heungkuk Life Insurance and escaped from 2 consecutive losses

The difference between the setters decided the match. Korean Air defeated Woori Card 3-0 (25-11 25-21 25-20) in the men’s V-League match for the 2021-22 season held at Jangchung Gymnasium in Seoul on the 14th.

It was an unfamiliar match between the two teams, who had faced each other in the championship match last season, meeting in 6th and 7th place (lowest) this season. Both teams were in desperate need of a win. In the opening match of the first round, Korean Air won 3-1.

For Korean Air, the performance of the setter Han was decisive. Based on one player’s clever tempo control, Korean Air used various attack routes such as a quick attack and a central rear-end attack to break the Woori Card’s defense. He also induced the opponent’s mistake with a sharp serve. Korean Air, which recorded its first winning streak, jumped from 6th to 2nd with 13 points from 4 wins, 4 losses.

After the game, Han said, “In the beginning of the season, the team was in a quagmire and there was a lot of pressure.

On the other hand, Woori Card was sluggish in all game operations and suffered a shutout defeat. Woori Card’s attack success rate from the first set was 32%, less than half that of Korean Air (67%). Setter Ha Seung-woo showed an unstable appearance several times, and the offensive balance was broken, and Na Gyeong-bok was blocked by the opponent’s defense every time and could not find a breakthrough.

In the women’s match held at the Sansam World Gymnasium in Incheon, GS Caltex defeated Heungkuk Life 3-0 (25-20 25-15 25-19) and escaped from the second straight loss. GS Caltex narrowed the gap with KGC Ginseng Corporation in second place to 3 points with 15 points from 5 wins and 3 losses.
