The access restrictions will apply strictly to the eje of the new rapid transit line between Santa Justa and Plaza del Duque. While indiscriminate private vehicle traffic will face automated plate readers, the administration confirmed that residents, business owners, and workers in the Casco Antiguo will retain unrestricted entry to their properties, garages, and commercial locations. Mobility delegate Álvaro Pimentel stated in a press release that the control mechanism is designed with a specific deterrent effect.

Pimentel added that the automated setup ensures local stakeholders will not face transit obstacles or penalties.

Ningún residente, comerciante o trabajador va a tener problemas de acceso ni será multado.

Automated Authorizations and Grace Periods

To maintain neighborhood access without administrative friction, the local government has established automated authorization pathways. Industrial and delivery vehicles will continue operating during standard loading and unloading schedules without requiring prior administrative filings. Meanwhile, families with children at local schools can register up to four license plates through a simplified digital process.

Rotational parking facilities inside the restricted zone will operate via automated cross-referencing, matching entry cameras directly against parking registry databases to permit vehicle circulation without extra driver paperwork. Motorcycles and personal mobility vehicles retain complete freedom of movement. Additionally, drivers have a 72-hour grace period to validate medical emergencies or unexpected auto repair shop visits.

The local administration will initiate a mandatory informational grace period lasting two months upon launch, during which no fines will be issued. Technical criteria could extend this penalty-free window by an additional month.

Transit Fleet and Schedule Impact

The broader 12.4-kilometer corridor aims to slash travel durations between Sevilla Este and Plaza del Duque from 55 minutes down to 33 minutes. The fleet configuration delivers over 41,000 daily passenger slots with a five-minute headway during peak operational hours.
