rajeev Khandelwal’s journey to becoming a television heartthrob was far from conventional. Coming from an army family, his aspirations to pursue an acting role were met with resistance. His father, Retd. Lt. Col. C.L. Khandelwal, initially disapproved, leading to Khandelwal leaving home to chase his dreams in Mumbai.
khandelwal described the initial struggle, balancing his ambition to become a “romantic hero” with the financial realities of his family.He recalled his father saying he had no funds to support his acting aspirations, given he had two other sons.
Before achieving fame in ”Kahin Toh Hoga,” Khandelwal encountered the casting couch. He firmly refused to compromise his values. “When it happened, I straight-up told the person, ‘Sorry sir, mere se nahi milega aapko,’” Khandelwal said, emphasizing his determination to chart his own course and not let anyone control his destiny in the acting industry.
His television success paved the way for a Bollywood debut in the critically acclaimed “Aamir” (2008). Though, subsequent film projects like “Will You Marry Me?”, “Soundtrack,” and “Samrat & Co.” did not fare well at the box office.
