SHANGHAI, Jan. 5 (Xinhua) — On Wednesday (Jan. 3), a conference on building a smart factory was held. According to the report, the smart manufacturing equipment sector of East China’s Shanghai Municipality has exceeded 100 billion yuan (about 485 billion US dollars), with plans to build 70 smart factories in 2024.
The conference revealed that with the establishment of the smart factory cluster in Shanghai, production efficiency increased by an average of 50 percent and operating costs decreased by 30 percent, resulting in a 13.8 percent reduction in unit energy consumption.
One action plan states: Shanghai City aims to foster 10 companies in the field of robotics. To achieve an industrial robot-related market size of 100 billion yuan (about 485 billion baht) by 2025.
China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology revealed that China has built more than 10,000 digital laboratories and smart factories, and has become the world’s largest intelligent manufacturing application market.
