Shanghai Shaken: Monster Typhoon Brings 75-Year Record-Breaking Fury to City
Typhoon Bebinca Makes Landfall in Shanghai, China
Typhoon Bebinca made landfall in Shanghai, China, early this morning, September 16, and was recorded as the strongest tornado in more than 70 years in this city.
Typhoon Bebinca, with winds of up to 151km/h, made landfall in Shanghai, China at around 7:30 a.m. today, September 16. This is the <a href="https://www.newsdirectory3.com/typhoon-terror-ferris-wheel-spins-out-of-control-iron-debris-rains-down-on-china-and-vietnam/” title=”Typhoon Terror: Ferris Wheel Spins Out of Control, Iron Debris Rains Down on China and Vietnam”>strongest typhoon to hit Shanghai since Typhoon Gloria in 1949.
In response to Typhoon Bebinca, Shanghai suspended some rail services and canceled hundreds of flights at the city’s two airports.
Resorts in Shanghai, including Disney Resort, Jinjiang Theme Park and Shanghai Wildlife Park, have been temporarily closed and many ferries have also stopped operating.
Shanghai is rarely directly affected by the powerful typhoons that often hit southern China.
Typhoon Bebinca occurred shortly after super typhoon Yagi made landfall in China’s Hainan province on September 6, causing both human and property damage.
Super typhoon Yagi and its circulation have brought heavy rain, flooding, and landslides to many Southeast Asian countries, including Vietnam, Laos, Thailand, and Myanmar.
