Beijing, August 6 –

In a recent development, Shanghai Volkswagen, a renowned joint venture between Germany’s Volkswagen and China’s Shanghai Motors, has issued a recall for more than 83,000 vehicles.

The recall, which commenced on the 4th of August, impacts a total of 57,659 Polo Plus models manufactured between October 12, 2020, and March 17, 2022. Additionally, 25,838 T-Cross vehicles produced between October 12 and March 25, 2022, are also subjected to this recall, as confirmed by China’s State Administration for Market Regulation.

The safety concern leading to the recall is related to potential sediment accumulation between the impeller and the fuel pump housing in these vehicles. This sediment deposition could hinder the smooth functioning of the impeller, eventually causing fuel pump malfunctions. Furthermore, in severe cases, it might lead to the ignition being turned off unexpectedly.

Shanghai Volkswagen, however, has taken prompt action to address this issue. They have announced that they will replace the improved fuel pump, free of charge, for all vehicles falling within the recall criteria. By doing so, they aim to eliminate any associated risks.

For a company widely recognized for its commitment to safety and customer satisfaction, this recall represents a proactive step in ensuring the well-being of their valued customers.
