Shaping Tomorrow’s Healthcare Visionaries: Yonsei and CHA University Students Embark on HIRA’s Career-Defining Journey
HIRA’s Career Experience Program for Future Healthcare Professionals
Recently, about 40 students majoring in digital health care at the Department of AI Health and Medical Science at CHA University of Science and Technology visited the Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service (HIRA) as part of their career experience program. This was followed by a visit from approximately 50 students at the Department of Health Administration at Yonsei University.
HIRA has been operating this career experience program since 2015, providing opportunities for middle, high school, and college students to gain insight into the healthcare industry and train as future healthcare professionals.
The HIRA school program consists of several modules, including an introduction to the health insurance system, the work and social role of the Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service, utilization of HIRA’s big data, a tour of the company building and ICT center, and career exploration with HIRA professionals.
Students who participated in this field trip expressed their gratitude, stating that it was a valuable experience to understand Korea’s healthcare system and learn about the various tasks of the Review and Assessment Service. Many reported an increased desire to pursue a career in the field after graduation.
This year, the Evaluation School was held a total of 18 times, with approximately 740 students from 20 schools visiting. HIRA plans to continue operating the Review School and expand its operation to schools in nearby areas, fulfilling its social responsibility for nurturing local talent.
Kim Jong-bong, head of the Talent Management Office, emphasized the importance of providing new experiences and expanded perspectives to aid in career exploration and employment preparation. He stated that HIRA will continue to operate career experience programs for students, contributing to the development of future healthcare professionals and public talents.
