Shashi Tharoor MP cancels Quarantine, Cambridge event for Indians despite taking two doses

New Delhi: MP Shashi Tharoor has objected to the UK’s decision to allow people from certain countries, including India, to be monitored even if they take two doses of the vaccine. The UK has ruled that even those who take two doses will be considered non-vaccinated. Shashi Tharoor has announced that he has canceled some of his events in the UK due to this.

Tharoor’s withdrawal from a debate organized by the Cambridge Union and the release of one of his books. Tharoor also criticized the decision of Quarantine for Indians to take two doses of vaccine. The UK announced the decision on Friday. It will come into effect from October 4.

Meanwhile, Congress leader Jairam Ramesh criticized the UK decision as racist. Jairam Ramesh tweeted that the Kovishield vaccine was developed in the UK and that the Serum Institute is exporting the vaccine there as well.

In addition to India, the UK’s new vaccine rules apply to people from Africa, South America, the UAE, Turkey, Jordan, Thailand and Russia. They will be required to observe for ten days and the Kovid test will be negative.
