Today co-host Sheinelle Jones has announced the upcoming release of her debut book, Through Mom’s Eyes: Simple Wisdom From Mothers Who Raised Extraordinary Humans, slated for April 14, 2026.
The book’s journey to publication has faced delays. Originally announced in September 2024 with an anticipated April 2025 release, the project was impacted by personal tragedy when Jones’ husband, Uche Ojeh, passed away in May 2025. Jones subsequently took time away from Today, returning to the show in September 2025.
Jones shared the new release date in an Instagram post on Friday, January 30, expressing gratitude for the support she’s received. “Thank you all for being so understanding and supportive—especially if you preordered it, and watched the publication date change, so I could focus on my family,” she wrote. She acknowledged the emotional complexities of working on the book while navigating personal loss, stating, “Years ago, I set out to write this book about motherhood and what I’ve learned from women I admire — and you can probably imagine how it felt as my life got turned upside down ‘while’ I was writing it.”
Through Mom’s Eyes features interviews with the mothers of prominent figures, including Lin-Manuel Miranda, Lady Gaga, Stephen Curry, and Shaquille O’Neal. Jones described the book as a collection of “wisdom & humor,” promising readers a blend of laughter and emotion.
In a September 2024 episode of Today, Jones described the book as a “love letter” to mothers, grandmothers, aunties, and anyone who cares for children, stating that motherhood “never stops.”
Fans responded with an outpouring of support following Jones’ announcement, with many expressing excitement and offering encouragement. One commenter noted Jones will narrate the audiobook version of Through Mom’s Eyes.
Sheinelle Jones currently co-hosts Today with Jenna and Sheinelle on NBC.
