According to NYPD Sergeant Kevin Sheehan, Kerri aherne, a 43-year-old woman experiencing homelessness, attacked the mother without provocation.Aherne lunged at the victim, stabbing her several times in the back and slashing her arm. The two women had no prior relationship or interaction. Remarkably, the victim’s 9-month-old daughter was unharmed during the incident.
The victim’s husband, also an employee of the LASD (though their specific roles within the department have not been disclosed), immediately intervened.Hearing the disturbance, he rushed into the restroom and successfully restrained Aherne until New York Police Department officers arrived at the scene.
