Shield Your Inbox: WhatsApp Rolls Out Block Feature for Unknown Contacts on Android Beta
WhatsApp Introduces New Security Feature to Block Unwanted Messages
WhatsApp is rolling out a new security feature to help Android beta users keep their inboxes clean. The feature, called “Block messages from unknown accounts,” aims to reduce unwanted messages from unknown contacts.
This feature is currently live for some beta testers who have installed the latest WhatsApp beta version 2.24.20.16 from the Play Store. It allows users to block messages from unknown contacts if they send too many messages or spam over a short period.

Users can find the new security option in the “Advanced” section within the Settings menu. When enabled, WhatsApp will monitor incoming messages from unknown contacts and temporarily block those messages if an unknown account sends a lot of spam messages in a short period.
However, users will continue to receive important messages from unknown contacts. WhatsApp will suggest enabling this feature if it detects that a particular contact is sending multiple messages in a short period.
WhatsApp is also working on other features, including different design styles for its “Chat Themes” feature, new options to make it easier to transfer community ownership, and the ability to create call links directly from group chats.
In addition, WhatsApp is working on a new option that will allow users to mark all unread messages as read with a single tap of a button. iOS users can also expect to get AR effects and filters for video calls in the future.
