Overseas Vietnamese Communities Celebrate Mid-Autumn Festival with Cultural Activities and Charity
Malaysia
The Malaysia – Vietnam Friendship Association organized a “Mid-Autumn Festival” program for children in the Vietnamese community in Kuala Lumpur from September 13-15, 2024.
Traditional activities such as breaking the cake, lion dance, and lantern procession provided a useful playground, helping children better understand the national culture.
Le Ngoc Theatre Group from Vietnam performed special performances, exchanging Vietnamese and Malaysian cultures. The Malaysia – Vietnam Friendship Association launched a fundraising campaign to support the people of Northern Vietnam affected by storm No. 3.
Germany
The Mid-Autumn Festival 2024 took place in many big cities such as Berlin, Cottbus, Leipzig with a bustling atmosphere, attracting a large number of teenagers, children, and their families.
Children voluntarily donated their small amounts of money to help Vietnamese people affected by storm No. 3.

Nearly 2,000 gifts and hundreds of star lanterns from Vietnam were presented to the children. In Leipzig, the organizers presented certificates of merit to students with excellent academic achievements and tickets to visit the zoo.
Vietnamese Ambassador to Germany Vu Quang Minh and Minister Counselor Chu Tuan Duc emphasized the importance of preserving cultural identity and teaching the Vietnamese language to the young overseas Vietnamese generation.
Belgium
The Mid-Autumn Festival – Family Festival organized by the General Association of Vietnamese in Belgium (UGVB) became a special occasion for overseas Vietnamese families to meet, share, and connect with each other.
Children rejoiced with star lanterns and Vietnamese food stalls, creating a warm and colorful Mid-Autumn Festival.

A meaningful activity within the framework of the fair is the sale of Vietnamese products by the charity Friends for Vietnamese Kids to raise funds for poor students in Bac Giang province.
The total amount of money raised at the festival was 1,110 euros (1,234 USD).
Cambodia
The program “Full Moon Festival Night” organized by the Khmer – Vietnam Association brought Vietnamese students at the Khmer – Vietnam Tan Tien Friendship Primary School a complete Mid-Autumn Festival.
The program space was bustling with fun activities and learning about the cultural meaning of Mid-Autumn Festival.

Ms. Thach Thi Lan, Principal of the school, said that despite the limited facilities, this year’s program was held in the school’s new hall.
Singapore
The Vietnamese community organized a traditional Mid-Autumn Festival at the Vietnamese Embassy, bringing children and visitors a space full of childhood memories.
Activities such as painting conical hats, making moon cakes, decorating lanterns, making figurines, etc. attracted the participation of many children.

Vietnamese Ambassador to Singapore Mai Phuoc Dung emphasized the importance of preserving Vietnamese culture and maintaining the Vietnamese language for the young generation of overseas Vietnamese in Singapore.
