Shirakawa Mina’s Journey to AEW
Stardom’s Shirakawa Mina embarked on a one-month tour of America in August, coinciding with the single league tournament ”5★STAR GP”. This decision raised eyebrows, as Shirakawa had participated in the tournament three times in the past and had established her own style, improving her performance with each passing year.
However, Shirakawa chose to take a gamble and join AEW in America. The reason behind this decision was her desire to shine and make the most of her limited time. “I’m not young anymore, so I’m always thinking about what I need to do to get to the top,” she explained. ”When an offer came from overseas at this time, I thought I’d just ride this wave. If I turned it down, there might not be another chance.”
Shirakawa’s US debut was on March 13th of this year in a match against Ana Jay at ROH. She then competed in four tournaments in April, mainly Stardom’s US tournaments. Her AEW debut followed, with a rematch against Ana Jay. These matches caught the eye of Stardom, leading to Ana’s entry into this year’s 5★STAR GP.
A Whirlwind Tour of Japan and the US
In June, Shirakawa began traveling back and forth between Japan and the US, competing in various matches. On June 5th, she faced off against Serena Deeb, a former WWE wrestler who had made headlines after shaving her head. Shirakawa also attended the signing ceremony for the AEW Women’s World Championship, where she displayed her fluent English in front of a large crowd.
On June 26th, Shirakawa formed a trio with Mariah May, with whom she had been paired in Japan. This move was groundbreaking, as it brought their relationship to America and incorporated it into the story. Shirakawa’s opponents at the time were Saraya, Harley Cameron, and Anna.
A New Chapter in Shirakawa’s Career
Saraya, a former WWE Paige, is a superstar who also served as the manager of Kabuki Warriors (Asuka & Kairi Sane). Her autobiographical story has been made into a movie titled “Fighting Family” produced by “The Rock” Dwayne Johnson. Shirakawa’s encounter with Saraya marked a new chapter in her career, one that would take her to new heights.
