Valtteri Bottas Considers Mercedes Return Amid Sauber Uncertainty

Valtteri Bottas has revealed he may return to Mercedes as a reserve driver if he loses his Sauber F1 seat for the 2025 season.

With all seats filled for 2025, except for those at Red Bull and Sauber, Bottas’ future in Formula 1 remains uncertain. The Finnish driver is eager to continue racing, but is also considering alternative options.

Rumors have been circulating about Bottas’ potential move to Mercedes, where he previously drove alongside Lewis Hamilton from 2017 to 2021, securing 10 wins during his tenure.

“My priority is to stay as a driver,” Bottas emphasized. “That’s my wish, and I’m working hard to make it happen. However, we haven’t signed the contract yet, and it’s already October, so we have to consider all options, including returning to the Mercedes family.”

Bottas acknowledged that returning to Mercedes is a possibility, but also mentioned that there are other options available. His primary goal remains to continue racing in Formula 1.

The 35-year-old driver has been in talks with Sauber, and negotiations are progressing well. Bottas revealed that he and CEO Mattia Binotto are in close contact, discussing the terms and conditions of his contract.
