Asians Shine at the Emmy Awards: ‘Shogun’ Makes History with 18 Wins
At the Emmy Awards, the US broadcast industry’s most prestigious event, Asians stood out again this year. Japanese language drama ‘Shogun’ won a whopping 18 awards, making history for the most awards for a single work.
‘Shogun’ Wins Big at the Emmy Awards
Emmy Award winning work is ‘Shogun’. The drama ‘Shogun’, considered the Japanese version of ‘Game of Thrones’, has won 18 Emmy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Director and Best Actor.
‘Shogun’, which depicts the political struggles of 17th century Japan, has an American director and producer, but most of the actors are Japanese and the language is also produced in Japanese.

The lead actors won the male and female awards, with Hiroyuki Sanada becoming the second Asian actor to win the best actor award after ‘Squid Game’s Lee Jung-jae.

Other Notable Winners at the Emmy Awards
In the comedy series category, ‘The Bear’, which tells the story of chefs, won 11 awards and in the short series category, ‘The Bear’ won 11 awards.
‘Be Rain Dear’ did well, winning Best Actor and other awards.
Robert Downey Jr., who was nominated for Best Supporting Actor for director Park Chan-wook’s drama ‘The Sympathizer’, and Korean actress Greta Lee, nominated for Best Supporting Actress for ‘The Morning Show’, unfortunately failed to win awards.
At the previously held ‘Creative Arts Emmy Awards’, Sandra Oh won the Emmy Award after 14 moves for ‘Quiz Lady’.
