[OSEN=한용섭 기자] Major League baseball genius Shohei Ohtani (LA Dodgers) had a long shot in his first at-bat in the opening game held on the mainland of the United States.

After the translator’s gambling scandal broke, he went quietly hitless in three consecutive exhibition games, but immediately showed concentration in the regular season games.

Ohtani started as the No. 2 designated hitter in the opener between the St. Louis Cardinals and the US mainland held at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles on the 29th (Korea time). No. 1 Mookie Betts and No. 3 Freddie Freeman were placed in front and behind Ohtani.

Ohtani hit a long shot in his first at-bat in the bottom of the first inning. Betts, a leadoff hitter, walked and walked.

Ohtani hit a low changeup out of St. Louis starting pitcher Myles Micolas at 86.9 mph on the fourth pitch and hit a double.

Betts stopped as he rounded third base, but Ohtani didn’t see this and ran around 2nd base to 3rd base, but was caught in a crossbow. He was tagged out at third base. Ohtani was out, but the scoring chances were solved by subsequent hitters.

With one out and runners on third, Freeman hit a timely shot to right to score the first run. Will Smith then hit a bunt, leading to an opportunity with one out and runners on first and third, and Max Muncy hit a sacrifice fly to left field to make it 2-0.

The Dodgers then hit a solo home run in the third inning with Betts as the leadoff hitter. As Ohtani walked, Freeman hit a two-run home run that went over the center field fence. They ran away with a score of 5-0.

St. Louis made it right in the 4th inning when Paul Goldschmidt hit a solo home run, making it 5-1.
