“Last night’s shooting in Times Square, one of the busiest areas in the city, was beyond reckless.”

Police arrested one of the three robbery suspects near the scene, a 15-year-old from Venezuela who was identified as staying at a hostel for illegal immigrants.

Last month, an incident took place in the same place, Times Square in New York, where seven immigrants attacked a police officer.

When the police took a man into custody, a fierce fight began, and the young people joined around him and kicked him several times, as captured on CCTV footage.

Most of these people, in their late teens to early 20s, were immigrants from Venezuela who had entered the United States less than a year ago and were reportedly living in migrant shelters.

According to the New York Police, in November last year, the number of assaults on police officers was more than 3,200, which is an increase of 41% compared to 2021.
