KiranaPro App Hacked, GitHub and AWS Resources Deleted
Deepak Ravindran, CEO of the Indian grocery app KiranaPro, reports a meaningful cyberattack. The cyberattack resulted in the deletion of the company’s GitHub repository and Amazon Web Services (AWS) data. Ravindran believes the KiranaPro hack was a targeted action and intends to publicly identify the responsible party.
KiranaPro facilitates shopping at local “Kiranas,” wich are similar to convenience stores. The app allows users to place orders that are then sent to nearby Kiranas, who compete for the sale. The winning store arranges for delivery, typically within 20 minutes.
Ravindran stated that KiranaPro supports the livelihoods of thousands of Kirana store owners, processing over 2,000 orders daily. He suggested the data breach stemmed from a personal grudge. The attack occurred last week, rendering the app inoperable since then.
