Singapore Man Charged: Police Chase, Drug Find & Multiple Offences

Man to be Charged After Police Chase, Drug Discovery in Singapore

SINGAPORE – A 36-year-old man will be charged in court on Tuesday, , after allegedly refusing to comply with police instructions during a routine check and subsequently speeding away, endangering officers.

According to a police statement released on Monday, , the incident began at approximately 1:50 a.m. On Sunday, , when officers signaled the man to stop his vehicle along Coleman Street for a routine check. The man allegedly refused to comply and drove off at a dangerous speed.

The pursuit continued as the man drove against the flow of traffic, eventually colliding with a taxi. Despite the collision, he continued to flee the scene, according to police.

The vehicle was later found abandoned along Central Boulevard. A search of the car revealed items believed to be controlled drugs, prompting further investigation.

The suspect was arrested on the same day. He will face charges including using criminal force to deter a public servant from the discharge of their duty, dangerous driving and driving while under disqualification.

Police are continuing to investigate other potential traffic-related offenses and suspected drug-related crimes connected to the incident.

Authorities emphasized their commitment to taking firm action against individuals who obstruct law enforcement officers and those who endanger the safety of other road users through reckless driving. “We will not hesitate to take action against those who blatantly disregard the law,” the police statement read.

If convicted of using criminal force to deter a public servant, the man could face a jail term of up to four years, a fine, or both. Dangerous driving carries a potential sentence of up to 12 months in jail, a fine of up to S$5,000 (approximately US$3,950), or both, along with disqualification from driving all classes of vehicles. Driving while under disqualification could result in a jail term of up to three years and a fine of up to S$10,000.

This incident follows a series of recent police chases and arrests involving traffic violations and drug-related offenses in Singapore. On January 2, 2026, a 34-year-old van driver was arrested in Choa Chu Kang after a police chase that resulted in injuries to both the driver and a Traffic Police officer. Weapons and suspected drugs were found in the van. The suspect faces multiple charges, including reckless driving causing hurt, driving without a valid license, and possession of scheduled weapons.

More recently, on January 16, 2026, a 17-year-old male was arrested after a drug-impaired driving chase across eastern Singapore. The pursuit involved multiple collisions with other vehicles before the suspect was apprehended attempting to flee on foot. Police found an e-vaporiser in the car and are investigating further.

In a separate case, on November 4, 2025, a 23-year-old man was sentenced to over six years in jail and 11 strokes of the cane for illegally driving a car, leading police on a chase, and possessing a sword. He was also found to have consumed methamphetamine and trafficked the drug while out on bail.

On January 2, 2026, a 40-year-old man was arrested after a 40-kilometer chase with traffic police near Marina Bay. He was driving a car with fake license plates and faces charges including driving under the influence and dangerous driving.
