2024/04/17

On the afternoon of April 16, 2024, Premier Li Qiang and German Chancellor Scholz attended the symposium of the Sino-German Economic Consultative Committee at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing and communicated with the participating entrepreneurs. More than 20 entrepreneurs from China and Germany participated.

Li Qiang said that China is the largest developing country and Germany is the largest economy in Europe. The development of the two countries represents an important opportunity for each other. China is willing to work together with Germany to make the economic and trade cooperation between the two countries bigger, better and stronger, so as to better benefit the two peoples. Both sides should work together to continue the good tradition of pragmatic cooperation, insist on treating each other as important partners, not as opponents, and let pragmatic cooperation always become the mainstream of bilateral relations. The “greenhouse” of protectionism cannot cultivate truly competitive businesses. Both sides must maintain an open and fair market environment, firmly practice the concept of open development, and strive to maintain a fair competitive environment. Both sides should expand the mutually beneficial and win-win cooperation space, and the enterprises of the two countries should strengthen industrial and innovation cooperation, constantly cultivate new growth points for cooperation, and achieve greater development. The Chinese government is willing to work together with the German government to provide more policy support to make cooperation between enterprises on both sides more smooth and efficient, and to promote the long-lasting, stable and healthy development of economic and trade cooperation between the two countries .

Li Qiang said that the current recovery of China’s economy continues to consolidate and strengthen. China’s determination to expand high-level opening will not change, and its pace will not stop. China will continue to reduce the negative list for accessing foreign investment and implement national treatment for foreign-invested enterprises. We are constantly adapting and optimizing the arrangements for cross-border data flow, and will continue to regularly listen to the views of foreign-funded enterprises and actively respond to their reasonable requests. China will continue to take pragmatic measures to ensure that more and more foreign companies, including German companies, are willing to come, stay and develop well. It is hoped that entrepreneurs from both countries will actively promote Sino-German cooperation and at the same time play a good bridging and connecting role to help improve mutual understanding and trust between the two countries.

Scholz said that China is Germany’s most important economic and trade partner and that the two countries have close economic and trade ties, from which both sides benefit. Germany attaches great importance to the maintenance and development of economic and trade relations between Germany and China and opposes “decoupling”. This will further deepen economic and trade exchanges between Germany and China and expand practical cooperation. Germany welcomes Chinese companies investing in Germany.

Wu Zhenglong attended the symposium.
