Beloved actress Siobhán McSweeney, known for her hilarious role in the hit comedy “Derry Girls,” is set to host the highly anticipated Irish adaptation of the hit reality series “The Traitors.”
Following the success of its international versions in the UK, US, and the Netherlands, “The Traitors Ireland” promises to deliver the same gripping blend of strategy, trust, and betrayal. Filmed on location in Ireland,the series will feature a diverse group of contestants from across the country,all vying for a €50,000 prize.
“Like everyone, I am a huge ‘Traitors’ fan so when I was asked to host the Irish version I jumped at the chance,” McSweeney shared, expressing her excitement. “I’m looking forward to meeting our loyal Faithful and delicious Traitors. The Irish have a charm and ability to deceive while smiling which will make this version rather special, I think. And I’m the luckiest person in the world to watch them close up.”
RTÉ’s Director of Video, Steve Carson, praised McSweeney’s talent, stating, “Siobhán is an incredibly talented actor with a great comic and dramatic range. We certainly know that she is going to bring something really special to Ireland’s version of this fantastic game of trust and deceit.”
A Game of Deception and Intrigue
Produced by Kite Entertainment, “The traitors Ireland” will see 22 strangers navigate a castle-based game of strategy and deception.Contestants will face daily Missions to increase the prize pot, all while trying to identify the hidden Traitors among them.
The traitors, secretly chosen at the start of the game, will work to eliminate the Faithful contestants one by one. Those who survive to the finale will have the chance to claim the prize, but if a Traitor remains undetected, they will walk away with the money.
“the Traitors Ireland” is set to premiere on RTÉ One and RTÉ Player in 2025.
