Skyrocketing Taylor Swift Scam Reports Reach 190: Organized Fraudsters Target Fans

Skyrocketing Taylor Swift Scam Reports Reach 190: Organized Fraudsters Target Fans

November 15, 2024 Catherine Williams - Chief Editor Entertainment

Warning About Ticket Scams for Taylor Swift’s Concerts

Taylor Swift fans in Toronto should be cautious about ticket scams. The Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre reported 190 cases this year where fans were tricked into buying fake tickets.

Fraudsters often use hacked accounts of people the victims know, making it seem like a trusted friend is selling the tickets. Victims send e-transfers for these fake tickets, believing they are legitimate.

Lisanne Roy Beauchamp from the anti-fraud center stated that this shows the fraudsters’ increased sophistication.

As Swift begins her Canadian tour, many fans still seek tickets. The center suggests that if someone offers tickets online, it’s best to verify through another communication method, like a text or phone call.

Be cautious, as these scams are on the rise, and always confirm the legitimacy before making a payment.
