Slam Dunk in the Land of the Rising Sun: Japan’s B-League Heats Up with Gas Corporation’s Training Camp Showdown
Korea Gas Corporation Continues Training in Japan Ahead of KBL Season
Several KBL teams, including Daegu Korea Gas Corporation, are in Japan for their final training sessions ahead of the season opening. Korea Gas Corporation, which left the country on September 4, played two consecutive games against Rising Zephyr Fukuoka of the Japanese B2 League on the 6th and 7th, and then played three consecutive games against Fukuoka until September 9th.

The Gas Corporation will continue its practice match with B3 League Kagoshima Repnaise on September 11, followed by a match against Shimane Susano Magic of the B1 West Division, the highest league in Japanese professional basketball, on the 13th. The match against Shimane Susano Magic is scheduled to be broadcast live through the portal starting at 7:05 PM on Friday.
Japan is a popular destination for KBL teams during the off-season due to its high level of satisfaction in professional basketball infrastructure and the number of teams. The country has 24 teams in the B1 League, 14 teams in the B2 League, and 16 teams in the B3 League, providing numerous opportunities for practice matches.

Although it is challenging to match up with teams from the B1 division for practice matches, it is relatively easy to play against teams from the second and third divisions. The gas company will continue its final training in Japan for two consecutive years starting in 2023.
In the 2023 Japan training camp, the Gas Corporation played 5 practice matches, 4 of which were held behind closed doors. In the match against the B1 team Saga Balloonus, which was played openly with spectators, the Gas Corporation lost 83-88 after a close match.
This spring training will begin with three matches against teams from the second division, followed by two matches against B3 and one match against a B1 team. The gas company will conclude its 12-day spring training by returning to Korea on the 15th.
