Smash Your Way to Victory: The 17th ‘Mayor’s Cup’ Badminton Tournament is Here – Win a Leung Wai-hang Autographed Jersey
17th “Mayor’s Cup” Badminton Series Kicks Off in Guangzhou
The 17th “Mayor’s Cup” badminton series has officially begun in Guangzhou, China. The event, which is jointly sponsored by the Guangzhou Sports Bureau, Guangzhou Education Bureau, and Guangzhou Sports Federation, aims to promote the development of badminton in the city and provide a platform for enthusiasts to showcase their skills.
This year’s competition will feature badminton events for primary, secondary, and college students, as well as mixed men’s and women’s team competitions. The regional competitions will start in various districts of the city this month, and the finals will be held in November.
The organizing committee has revealed that participants will have the opportunity to get a signed photo and signed jersey from Leung Wai-hang, the silver medalist in the men’s doubles badminton at the Paris Olympics.
The “Mayor’s Cup” badminton series competition is one of the earliest sports brand events in Guangzhou’s “Mayor’s Cup” series of competitions. As the largest, most age-covered, and most influential mass badminton event in the city, it attracts badminton enthusiasts from different regions, different professions, and all ages to participate enthusiastically.
The event has received strong support from the chief partner, the Hong Kong Jockey Club of China, as well as other sponsors such as the Guangzhou Sports Lottery Management Center, Guangzhou Shuangyu Sports Culture Development Co., Ltd., and China Resources Beverage (Holdings) Co., Ltd.
The “Mayor’s Cup” uses a points system to optimize the players’ experience. As the largest brand event at the Guangzhou municipal level, the “Mayor’s Cup” is one of the first domestic events to be included in the national fitness points system by the Chinese Badminton Association.
The event promotes the popularization of badminton through the theme of “Entering the Community”. National fitness enters the community, and happy exercise strengthens the body. By holding various forms of experience activities, the unique badminton culture of Guangzhou, the “Badminton Capital”, is inherited and carried forward.
The “Mayor’s Cup” inherits the champion spirit and increases the popularity of group events. In the badminton competition of the just-concluded Paris Olympics, ”Guangzhou boy” Liang Weikeng and his partner Wang Chang fought hard and won a precious silver medal. This proves that the badminton champion spirit is passed on in Guangzhou, a hot land of badminton.
Players participating in this event will have the opportunity to obtain Liang Weikeng’s autographed photos and signed jerseys, and follow the example of the world champion to promote and inherit the Chinese sports spirit.
