Fairfield,Calif. — Famous Creations, a cupcake shop and ⁤catering business in Fairfield, ⁤California, is ‌known for its unusual flavors and the resilience of its owner, Nick Rodriguez. Rodriguez, who doesn’t consider himself calm under pressure, recently faced a challenging situation when a man threw a glass bottle thru his shop’s window.

Instead of reacting with anger, rodriguez secured the door, checked on ⁣his staff, and continued operations. This response,⁣ captured ⁢in a viral video that garnered over 11 million views, showcased his commitment to grace over anger.

“People can get cake anywhere,” Rodriguez told Shawn Walchef of Cali⁢ BBQ Media on⁤ the Restaurant Influencers podcast. “They come here as of how we make them feel.”

The incident, far from⁣ being a setback, highlighted the strong community support for Famous creations. Customers responded by placing numerous ⁢cupcake⁢ orders. Rodriguez said his insurance provider, NEXT, quickly covered the damages, allowing him to continue business with minimal disruption.

Rodriguez, a former‌ AT&T employee, transitioned to baking after a successful charity bake sale where he raised over $1,200. Within 15 months, he opened his first storefront.‍ He built the‌ business without loans or investors, ⁣relying on ⁣community‍ buzz and social media.

Even with two locations and over 150 cupcake flavors, Rodriguez maintains a hands-on approach. His second store lacks a kitchen, requiring staff to transport baked ⁤goods from the ‌Fairfield location. He also emphasizes authenticity on social media.

“My followers hear my voice in what I write.‍ That’s what⁢ matters,” Rodriguez said. “If you’re⁣ a small business owner, just post. Be messy. Be real. Not everyone’s going to like you. That’s okay.”

Rodriguez turned ‌off comments after the ‌video went viral due to ‍some negative remarks. ⁣He remains focused on protecting and building⁤ his business.

“No one’s ever ⁣going to love your business like you do,” Rodriguez‍ said. “You have to protect it. Build it smart.”

What’s next

Rodriguez plans to continue⁢ expanding Famous Creations, focusing on customer experience and⁢ authentic engagement to ‍grow his brand.
