Thes directives were issued by the Prime Minister and communicated during a recent meeting concerning the Small and Medium Enterprise Development Authority (SMEDA).

“The prime minister has given clear directions for SMEDA to focus on initiatives supporting SMEs, micro-enterprises, women entrepreneurs, and addressing climate-related challenges,” stated a government spokesperson. Plans include establishing new regional SMEDA offices in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Balochistan, and Gilgit-Baltistan to improve outreach and effectiveness across the country.

A key outcome of the meeting was the discussion surrounding the appointment of SMEDA’s new Chief Executive Officer (CEO). An HR committee will be formed to oversee a transparent and merit-based recruitment process, ensuring the selection aligns with the Prime Minister’s vision.
