SMTown Live Concert Electrifies LA With K-Pop Stars

Thirteen K-Pop groups under SM Entertainment recently performed at dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California, for SMTown Live, captivating fans despite the heat. The concert marked the agency’s 30th anniversary and a return to California after 13 years, the last being in Anaheim.
The all-day event began early for fans with red-carpet tickets, offering close-up views and interactions with their favorite idols. Several groups, including TVXQ, Super Junior, SHINee’s Key and Minho, EXO’s Suho, Chanyeol and Kai, Red Velvet, NCT 127, NCT Dream, WayV, aespa, Riize, Hearts2Hearts and SMTR25, previewed new music and performances. NCT Wish was unable to attend due to visa issues. The SMTown Live concert was a vibrant showcase of K-Pop talent and a celebration of SM Entertainment’s legacy in the music industry.
Aespa teased future releases during their set.”We’re about to release music very, very soon, so please stay tuned for that,” Winter said. The group described their performance, which included hits like “Whiplash” and “Next Level,” as “fire.”
Riize also expressed their excitement. “It’s our first time in L.A. for SMTown, and it’s not every year that we can come here as a whole SMTown family,” Anton said. The group previewed their album, Odyssey, during the show, calling the event ”a really special possibility.”
TVXQ, the most senior group performing, delivered on their promise to play older songs, including their 2008 hit “Mirotic.” “We just want this performance to be a place where we can show a lot of synergy between the senior and the junior groups,” Changmin said.
Red Velvet opted for fan favorites, surprising the audience with their 2018 song “Bad Boy.” The group said they knew fans were “going to love it,” as it was their first performance in L.A. in years.
Hearts2Hearts, SM’s newest group, fresh from Wango Tango, shared their excitement about being in L.A. for the first time.Stella highlighted their anticipation for the show’s finale, “Hope from Kwangya,” where all performers unite.
The concert concluded with all the artists on stage for “Hope from kwangya,” followed by a group farewell. SM Entertainment’s SMTown Live is scheduled for London on June 28, followed by another in Japan in August. The SMTown Live concert series continues to be a major event in the K-pop scene, showcasing a wide array of talent and solidifying SM Entertainment’s influence.
