How Creator Subscriptions Work

Creator Subscriptions allow Snapchat users to directly support their favorite creators through a monthly fee, in exchange for exclusive benefits. These benefits include access to exclusive content – such as subscriber-only Snaps and Stories – priority replies to public Stories, and an ad-free experience within the creator’s Stories. This tiered access model mirrors strategies employed by platforms like Patreon, Substack, YouTube, and Instagram, all of which have introduced subscription or membership programs in recent years.

Snap emphasizes that the program is designed to give creators flexibility and control. Creators can set their own monthly pricing within Snap-recommended tiers, allowing them to tailor the value proposition to their audience and community. The company frames this as a way for creators to “experiment, reward their biggest supporters, and build a recurring income stream,” supplementing existing monetization options like the Unified Monetization Program and the Snap Star Collab Studio.
