Sony Remains Optimistic About Fairgame Despite Concorde’s Failure
Despite the record-time withdrawal of Sony’s live service game Concorde from the market, the company is feeling positive about its next game in the same field, Fairgame, currently in development at Haven Studios.
Sony’s Concorde, which received mixed reviews, failed to convince the gaming community to pay $40 for two purchases, resulting in the lowest number available on the Steam platform. The game’s removal and server shutdown occurred just 11 days after its release.
According to Christopher Dring, editor at GamesIndustry.biz, Sony is very optimistic about Fairgame. In a recent Microcast Podcast, Dring shared that internal impressions about the game are very positive, and Sony is eager to make it a success.
“I know people are a bit apprehensive about this, but I’ve heard that the internal impressions about this game can be very positive, that the live service can be one of the titles that Sony has to support and try to make it a success in different ways.”
Fairgame promises to offer a unique gaming experience, focusing on team-based gameplay where three players work together to execute a heist against larger institutions and companies.
While details about the game mechanics are still scarce, it is expected that Fairgame will feature a dynamic system, possibly incorporating AI in PvE and PvP gameplay. Further information is anticipated to be released by Sony in the coming days.
