Sony Developing New Handheld Console for PS5 Games to Compete with Nintendo
Sony is developing a new handheld gaming console. This device will allow users to play PlayStation 5 games anywhere. Reports from Bloomberg indicate that Sony aims to compete with Nintendo and Microsoft in the portable gaming market. However, the console might take several years to launch, depending on Sony’s decision.
This new console builds on Sony’s previous device, the PlayStation Portal. The Portal streams PS5 games over Wi-Fi but was initially meant to work independently. The new handheld will support playing games natively, which could attract more users and increase game accessibility.
Sony has experience with portable consoles, having previously released the PS Vita and PlayStation Portable. However, these models are no longer in production. The upcoming handheld marks Sony’s renewed effort in the portable gaming space.
