SONY PS5 Pro: Upgraded Specs and Improved Ray Tracing Performance Revealed

The SONY PS 5 Pro revealed in technical documents exposed last month is real! According to a recent report by The Verge, they have cited credible sources saying that they are ensuring that new games are compatible with this upcoming gaming console. One of the key points is to improve ray tracing performance, and this news is consistent with previously leaked information. The technical documents coincide, which also means that SONY PS5 Pro is not unfounded.

Codenamed Trinity, it’s a high-end version of the PlayStation 5 that will feature a more powerful GPU (45% faster than the PS5) and a slightly faster CPU (10% more powerful than the current PS5 in enhancement mode performance), and will be able to enable light tracking games have more significant effects or can reach higher resolutions and frame rates in some games, with performance up to 3 times faster than the regular PS5. According to previous statements, after the launch of PS5 Pro, the existing PS5 family will continue to be sold.

The PS5 Pro will also include some system memory changes for developers. The PS5’s standard memory speed is 448GB/s, but the PS5 Pro increases that by 28% to 576GB/s. Because the PS5 Pro’s memory system is more efficient, “bandwidth gain can exceed 28%.”

Additionally, developers will have greater access to the system’s overall memory. Games can use an additional 1.2GB of system memory on the PS5 Pro, so overall cache memory is 13.7GB compared to the 12.5GB allocated to games on the base PS5. This adjustment resides in SONY’s custom PSSR upgrade solution, which requires approximately 250MB of cache space, as upgrading images from 1080p to 4K will produce a delay of approximately 2 milliseconds, and through the new solution, it is expected that in the future the latency issue will be improved and it is expected to support resolutions up to 8K.

SONY also encourages developers to make more use of the ray tracing feature on PS5 Pro. In the description document it is mentioned: “If the game” provides significant enhancement effects, you can use the “Trinity” enhancement ratio in The Verge It also clearly states that developers can now order test modules. Sony expects every game submitted for certification in August to be compatible with the PS5 Pro. For full PS5 Pro specs, refer toInternal clearancewhose publication is expected by the end of 2024.
