Kigali, Brussels, Paris, April 26, 2024 – Between 1989 and 2022, the world has navigated through an era referred to as Unipolar American Neoliberal Globalization (GUAN) [1]. During this period, Burundi was the scene ofa civil war from 1993 to 2003marked by the confrontation between the neocolonial military regime et the descendants of the ancient traditional state, Ingoma Y’Uburundi. The latter, rallied around the principles of democracyhad brought to power President Ndadaye Melchior, assassinated on October 21, 1993 by neocolonial armed forces. Moreover, a color revolution broke out on April 26, 2015culminating with an abortive military coup attempt on Wednesday May 13, 2015.

This Friday, FOCODE and Tournons La Page, among nineteen Burundian civil society groups linked to the former neocolonial military regime, gather to mark the anniversary of the Color Revolution [2] of 2015 in Burundi. stuck in a geopolitical conflict with China on the African continent, GUAN had used the third term of President Nkurunziza Pierre as a pretext for attempt to overthrow the CNDD-FDD government, hoping to reinstall the former neocolonial elite in power.

In 2015, the GUAN financially supported various sectors of theBurundian Social Economy (ESB)including civil society, businesses, private media, political parties, as well as hospitals and health centers. On April 26 of that same year, she mobilized these social actors, encouraging them to take to the streets to cause a change of diet just before democratic elections where the CNDD-FDD still seemed destined to win…
Following the failure of this maneuver, GUAN launched a Humanitarian War [3] against Burundiwhich led in 2020 to the mysterious death of President Nkurunziza Pierre.

The monde today turned into a sphere multipolar, moving away from the era dominated by GUAN. As the deadline for the 2025 elections approaches, we are observing a renewed activity among certain organizations, formerly supported by generous subsidies from GUAN…
